Its clear that I know absolutely nothing about makeup, and it almost saddens me b/c now in my soon to be mid 30s, I am interested in learning. One thing I desperately want to learn to do is to fill in my eyebrows perfectly. As a child they were very thick, but after years of waxing they do look a lot like the young lady's photo pictured above in the before shot. I don't care what anyone says, Meagan's OTK and jeans look is my style. That look is perfect. Ripped jeans, OTK brown suede boots and a boyfriend tee, its like she knows who I am. I seriously want seared ahi tuna, its been awhile. I've never lived in a home with one, but I'd love to buy a house with an entryway. I just want to add stuff to it. I'm not sure it will always look so picture perfect, but I've always felt they really make a home a home.

I've always wanted to (learn) wear makeup but I feel like it's way too expensive to purchase when you don't have a clue about what to do with the stuff. I want to start off with something simple though, the no makeup-makeup look. Seems simple enough but this girl doesn't know a thing. I feel like it's the face of Fall; (style) plaids, knits, boots and scarves.

It's no secret that I long to turn my business into a full-time business and finally be able to (want) work from home. I think about it everyday. A bit of good news for me, a blogger that I've been trying to reach for several months now has finally replied to my email and I get to send her a box for review. Hers is the blog of blogs for these types of reviews so I can't wait, hoping it goes well. What I wouldn't do to be able to wake up in that (home) platform bed with a cup of hot chai tea to read it, here's to goals and cozy dreams.

Its almost that time again, actually it is that time. Halloween decorations are pretty much in your face like BAM in stores right now and I'm pretty excited. Anything that calls for decorating the front porch makes me dance a little jig. This year we're taking the kids to Halloween Horror Nights and I may be happier than both of my children, but I digress. I want to step my Halloween decor game up a bit this year. Normally its pretty cheesy, but I want it to look well thought out and put together.

To ceiling fan or not to ceiling fan? I often ask myself this question. The only time I ever really use our ceiling fan is when I'm coming out of the shower and have to get ready to go somewhere immediately after. All of that moving around and stepping out of a hell-like sauna can really make a girl sweat. I'll turn it on for a few minutes, but then its off again because I normally get cold. I really have no other use for it to be honest, and we have one in every room in the house. I personally don't care for them. They collect dust and aren't visually pleasing to look at. Sure there are some beautiful fans out there, but I much rather see them on a front porch.

I recently read on a blog, I forget where, about not waiting until you purchase your home to start buying your furniture. I've been doing that and living miserably all the while. Its just that we have furniture that is totally not my style and I'm never happy to come home and look at it. You know how it feels when you walk in a beautiful room that you never want to leave. Well I want to feel that way about my entire living space. When we moved in about 5 years ago I was so happy to call that place my home, but now I think I'm just bored. Its quite small, but I could live with that if the decor was how I wanted it. The first thing that has to go is the ceiling fan, but we have to clear out the garage so that we'll have a place to store it. That gives me an idea for a future blog post. All of this is just in case we have to stay here for another year. I really don't want to, but just in case.

I just realized that this blog is slowly becoming my very own pinterest board. I've got to take my own photos, I just don't have the time to do that. Sometime in the near future I suppose. I own and run a small business, its a subscription box company, and its been doing pretty darn good. I'm not surprised, everything I've ever decided to do has always been successful, just with this business I'm really enjoying myself and have no plans to abandon it. Anyway, I do everything out of my small home and the business really gets in the way of things that have absolutely nothing to do with my subscription box venture. So we are currently in the process of making sure credit and savings are right so that we can purchase a home this time next year. One thing on the list is a home office. I need a dedicated space to house my office and store everything subscription box related. I was thinking that if we had a large enough back yard, we could buy a storage shed and convert it into an office. That is the plan. I'd like to keep my business separate from my living space. And ya know, if the day ever comes that I can quit my full time job, it would be nice to get up and go to work, but not really have to leave the house. The shed could also double as a guest house if large enough. I've been wanting to do this for years actually. I've always said, "If and when I purchase a home, I shall buy a storage shed to convert into a home office/guest house." That there is a true statement. Sadly we don't have an IKEA in our humble city, so we'd have to travel about 4 hours to shop at the nearest one. Such is life. Anyway, I've completely fallen in love with just about everything they have in store, I can't even contain myself whenever I shop there. Per usual, I'm daydreaming and looked at some IKEA kitchen inspo. I think I would be incredibly happy to walk into each and every one of the kitchens below for the length of a mortgage payment, hahaha... That means I could live with the decision to outfit my kitchen in IKEA. What do you think? Is their cabinetry of good quality?

some 20 years later

Since I can remember, I have always loved my grandparents bedroom furniture. I didn't know it then, but eventually figured out that the style was mid century modern. Some 20 years later I am still in love. My personal style for furniture and homes has changed, but I always seem to come back to this particular style. If my grandmother wanted to sell or give it away, I'd happily snatch it up. While I don't care to outfit my entire home in this style of furniture, I'd like to incorporate pieces throughout my home, or shall I say my future home. For example, I'd love my media cabinet to be mid century modern, my dresser and bed for my bedroom and maybe a side table or two. I think my boy Karl would compliment any piece of MCM furniture in the living room. I'm sure my fiance will go along with this, at least that is my hope. Below are several spaces that inspire my love of this style. While I would use only 1 or 2 pieces of MCM furniture in a room, I am still in love with each space and every single piece of furniture in all of these rooms.

In preparing for my non-existent home to be, I've been on the lookout for the perfect oversized sectional sofa that can withstand a rowdy family of 4. I currently live in our living room about 2/3 of the time and our sofa is the bed I cheat on my bed with. My son, a rambunctious 8 year old, practices karate chops, kicks and hurdles from time to time and so we really need something that can stand the test of time. Ikea's Karlstad Corner Sofa is the solution to this problem. I almost want to get it now, but our current home is a measly 1200 sq ft and the living room can't quite accommodate such a mammoth of a sofa. I may be a bit all over the place here, but I love modern mixed with bohemian, modern mixed with retro, velvets, bold colors, muted colors. Maybe you can find my aesthetic here. Currently all I do is browse the internet and Pinterest for awe-inspiring home decor photos. I don't know what I'm gonna do with myself when my dream of owning a home becomes a reality. I recently discovered the blog Young House Love and completely fell in love with all of their house tours. In the last year or so I've had my eyes on brick ranch homes, older models; the kind with driveways, no garages, although that really doesn't matter much. I don't know why but I'm head over heels in love with them. Well one reason is that bedrooms tend to be larger, homes cost less and there's ample storage and living space. Young House Love proved that you can turn something not so pretty into a marvelous piece of work. Here are some homes I've come across on the internet that really inspire me. Until we actually start the process of buying a home, I suppose this blog will serve as inspiration for our future home to be.
